SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Surge while driving at steady speeds with a warm engine.
NOTE:
THIS APPLIES ONLY TO EARLY BUILT 1986 COLTS WITH THE LAST SIX DIGITS OF THE VIN NUMBERED SEQUENTIALLY FROM 000001 TO 030670. LATER BUILT VEHICLES WILL HAVE THE NEW EGR VALVE ALREADY INSTALLED.
DIAGNOSIS
Disconnect vacuum supply hose to EGR valve and road test vehicle. If surge is gone, proceed to repair procedure.

1 Gasket, EGR Valve PN MD026567
1 Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086
REPAIR PROCEDURE
This procedure is for replacing the EGR valve with one that has a different calibration.
1. Replace EGR valve and gasket per the appropriate service manual procedures.

2. Type in Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086, as shown in Figure 1 and install near VECI label under hood.
