SYMPTOM/CONDITION

A condition may be exhibited on a small number of 1983 subject model vehicles of engine surge at constant speed driving.

NOTE: SERVICE CARBURETOR ASSEMBLIES SHIPPED SINCE DECEMBER, 1983, WILL HAVE BEEN MODIFIED AS DESCRIBED BELOW, HOWEVER, THE PART NUMBER WILL REMAIN UNCHANGED.

SERVICE CARBURETORS SHIPPED PRIOR TO DECEMBER, 1983, WILL BE MARKED F10 IN THE AREA OF THE FUEL INLET, ON THE TOP OF CARBURETOR. SERVICE CARBURETORS BUILT AFTER DECEMBER, 1983, WILL BE MARKED F18 IN THE SAME AREA.

1 - Carburetor Main Air Jet (#65) PN MD606848
1 - Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Remove air cleaner cover.

2. Using an expandable tip screwdriver, carefully remove the primary main air jet #95 (next to the choke blade housing).. Be careful not to drop jet in carburetor (Figure 1).
3. Install replacement jet (#65) PN MD606848. Be careful not to drop jet in carburetor.

4. Turn sub-EGR valve adjusting screw counterclockwise 3/4 of a turn. This screw thread is locked in place with a sealant and painted white. Use acetone or equivalent to soften sealant. After adjustment apply Mopar/Loctite Super Bonder Glue, PN 4318033, to threads. Apply white paint to head of adjustment screw (Figure 2).

5. Type the following information on the Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086 (Figure 3).
Upper Section

"Installed #65 Main Air Jet."

"Turned Sub-EGR Valve Adjusting Screw 3/4 Turn Counterclockwise."
