Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify that the concern is with the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system and not diagnosed in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Manual 1
2. Inspect to determine if any of the following mechanical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
^ Improperly installed fuel filter cap.
^ Damaged EVAP test port.
^ Loose or disconnected components.
^ Damaged EVAP canister or vent solenoid.
^ Damaged/pinched canister hoses.
^ Damaged/pinched fuel vapor control valve tube assembly.

3. If the concern remains after the inspection, determine the symptom and proceed to the following Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
4. Reinstall or install a new evaporative emission hose clamp when removed or damaged during testing procedures.
