Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Description and Operation






The Idle Air Control valve (IAC valve) controls engine idle speed. The idle air control valve is mounted on the intake manifold and allows air to bypass the throttle plate. The amount of air allowed to bypass is determined by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and is controlled by a duty cycle signal.
