Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Fuel Pressure Release
WARNING: After relieving the fuel system pressure, make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
2. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.
3. Grasp the fuel injector body and pull up while gently rocking the fuel injector from side to side.
4. Inspect the o-ring for signs of deterioration. Replace as required. If the fuel injector O-ring is missing, look for it in the intake manifold.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate the fuel injector O-rings and install two on each injector using light grade engine oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E, such as Motorcraft 10W30 motor oil, or equivalent.
2. Install the fuel injector(s) using a light twisting, pushing motion.
3. Carefully seat the fuel injection supply manifold assembly on the four fuel injectors.
4. Complete the installation of the fuel injection supply manifold.
5. Start the engine and run it at idle for two minutes. Check for leaks.
