Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Transmission Range Switch and Related Components:






REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Remove the manual control lever nut securing the manual control shift outer lever to the manual control lever.
4. Remove the manual control shift outer lever from the manual control lever.

Transmission Range Switch Electrical Connectors:






5. Disconnect the three solenoid electrical connectors located on top of the transaxle.
6. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connectors located on the front side of the transaxle case.
7. Remove the two retaining bolts securing the Transmission Range (TR) switch.

Transmission Range Switch:






8. Remove the bolts securing the solenoid electrical connector brackets to the top of the transaxle case.
9. Remove the TR switch from the manual control lever.


INSTALLATION
1. Position the TR switch on the manual control lever.
2. Install the bolts securing the solenoid electrical connector brackets to the transaxle case.
3. Install the bolts securing the TR switch, but do not tighten them.
4. Connect the three solenoid electrical connectors located on the top and the one solenoid electrical connector located on the side of the transaxle case.
5. Adjust the TR switch. Refer to Adjustments.
6. Install the manual control shift outer lever on the manual control lever and secure with the manual control lever nut. Tighten the nut to 44-64 Nm (33-47 lb ft).
7. Install air cleaner outlet tube.
8. Connect battery ground cable.
