EV 1 - Canister Purge Solenoid Function

^ Disconnect the vacuum hoses from ports A and B as shown in figure, and the electrical connector from the solenoid valve.

^ Blow air through port A and verify that no air exits from port B.

Evaporative Canister Purge Solenoid:

^ Apply 12 volts and ground as shown.

^ Blow air through port A and verify that air flows from port B.

^ Does the valve function properly?


YES -- Go to EV2. EV 2 Check For Liquid In Carbon Canister

NO -- Replace the EVAP canister purge solenoid.
