Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation
GF07.04-P-6060MAR Component Description For The Pressure Sensor
- refinement package
- as of model year 09
Component Identification:
Location
The pressure sensor is located at the right front on variable intake manifold.
Task
The pressure sensor detects the absolute pressure in the variable intake manifold (intake manifold air pressure). The ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) uses the intake manifold air pressure to detect the air mass at engine start, and to monitor the air mass measured by the LH and RH hot film MAF sensors ( B2/6, B2/7) when the engine is running.

Function
The intake manifold air pressure deforms the membrane which acts on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the signal voltage which serves the ME control unit as information about the intake manifold air pressure. The pressure measuring range of the pressure sensor is 0.1 to 1.2 bar.
Example:
Intake manifold air pressure Signal voltage
1.2 bar 4.5 V
0.8 bar 3.3 V
0.1 bar 0.5 V
