B1 Oil temperature sensor

Location
The oil temperature sensor is located at the front on the left side of the cylinder crankcase.

Task
The oil temperature sensor is used by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) to monitor the engine oil temperature.

Function
The NTC resistor integrated in the oil temperature sensor alters its electrical resistance according to the engine oil temperature. The ME-SFI control unit evaluates the voltage signal and reduces the power output when engine oil temperature is too high.

Oil temperature
20°C
60 °C
120 °C

Resistance value
3087 ohms
632 ohms
101 ohms

Voltage signal
3.39 V
1.50 V
0.32 V

NTC stands for " Negative Temperature Coefficient", which means:
The electrical resistance falls as the temperature rises (heat conductor).
