Body - Water Deflector Below Windshield Detached

WATER DEFLECTOR PROTRUDES

Topic number LI83.10-P-048662

Version 1

Design group 83.10 Ventilation

Date 01-05-2010

Validity Model W/S 212
Affected time period: From A 057 734 to A 154 303

Reason for change

Reason for block

Complaint:

The water deflector below the windshield can become detached and protrude in places.

Cause:

Tolerance shifts in the sectional molding below the windshield and water deflector.

Remedy:

In the case of complaints, unscrew the water deflector in the detached area only

Place an assembly wedge (Figure 1) between sectional molding and water deflector, and twist the wedge at regular intervals to press small notches/waves in the sectional molding. (See red arrows)

This produces a higher clamping force when installing.

Assembly:

Carefully press water deflector into sectional molding

(do not knock/tap as there is a risk of cracking the windshield!)

The water deflector is correctly installed when it protrudes from the windshield rubber seal by max. 1 mm. (Figure 2)

Screw water deflector back down.
