AZ88.00-P-0001-02VA Converting Front Bumper
- as of 3.3.08

Check components removed from standard bumper before assembly and replace if damaged.

Pay attention to paint damage.







1. Insert towing eye cover (20) into front bumper paneling (1) and arrest.
2. Hook check strap on towing eye cover (21) into front bumper paneling (1) and towing eye cover (20).







3. Insert center lower reinforcement (31) into front bumper paneling (1).

4. Install HCS flap (22) with HCS spring (23) in front bumper paneling (1).

For this purpose install HCS flaps (22) in front bumper paneling (1) from front, pull bearing brackets in HCS flaps (22) apart and insert into bearing bores. Then close HCS flaps (22) and insert HCS springs (23).







5. Install mounting clips (9) in present holes in front bumper paneling (1) (6 each).

Openings of mounting clips (9) should point toward the front of the vehicle







6. Insert trim (5) on right and left into front bumper paneling (1) and fasten with one lock nut (6) and two retaining clips (7) each.

Shown on trim (5) for AMG model designation vehicles.







7. Install sheet metal nuts (8) for mounting right and left air inlet grate (6 each).
8. Install sheet metal nuts (8) for fastening right and left front fog lamps (8 each).







9. Insert spacer sleeves (36) on right and left into attachment points on front bumper paneling (1).







10. Insert radiator grille (10) from rear into front bumper paneling (1) and arrest on catch tabs..

Ensure that the radiator grille (10) is arrested properly in the catch tabs (see circles).







11. Insert reinforcements (11) on right and left into front bumper paneling (1) with two expansion rivets (12) each.







12. Insert center impact absorber (30) into front bumper paneling (1).

Before inserting center front impact absorber (30), insert plastic plates for mounting the license plate frame into center front impact absorber (30) and fix in place with adhesive tape.







13. Insert impact absorber (29) into frame segments (17) and arrest.
14. Insert frame segments (17) on right and left into front bumper paneling (1) and install at sides with two sheet metal clip-type nuts each (see circles).







15. Arrest frame segments (17) in upper retaining lugs on front bumper paneling (1) and fasten with one expansion rivet (12) each on reinforcement (11).

Ensure that the frame segments (17) are arrested properly in the upper retaining lugs (see arrow).







16. Install spacer sleeve (37) in radiator grille (10) and frame segments.







Vehicles with Parktronic system (PTS) code 220

17. Clip outer left front ultrasonic sensor (B8/1), center left front ultrasonic sensor (B8/2), inner left front ultrasonic sensor (B8/3), inner right front ultrasonic sensor (B8/4), center right front ultrasonic sensor (B8/5) and outer right front ultrasonic sensor (B8/6) into brackets on front bumper paneling (1).

Previously check whether a decoupling ring (transparent silicon ring) is installed on all PTS ultrasonic sensors.

18. Connect PTS wiring harness (40) to PTS ultrasonic sensors as shown in picture, route to front bumper paneling (1) and fix in place to specified attachment points (circles).

19. Insert front bumper PTS connector (X26/27) into frame segments (17) on left and arrest.

Ensure that the front bumper PTS connector (X26/27) is properly arrested in the bracket (see arrows).







20. Insert cable tie (14) for mounting left and right front fog lamp wiring harnesses into frame segments (17).







21. Fasten front fog lamp wiring harnesses (15) to frame segments (17) with cable tie (14).







22. Connect front fog lamp wiring harnesses to front fog lamps.
23. Insert left front fog lamp and right front fog lamp (E5/2) into front bumper paneling (1) from front and install with four 3.5 x 9.5 round Allen bolts (16) each.







24. Insert left and right air inlet grate (27) into front bumper paneling (1) and fasten with four 3.5 x 22 round Allen bolts (28) each.







25. Install front bumper paneling (1) on vehicle.
26. Insert center air inlet grate (32) into front bumper paneling (1).

Ensure that the center air inlet grate (32) arrests properly in the mounting clips.

27. Install license plate frame (25) at outside of front bumper paneling (1) and prepare for assembly.

Use license plate frame (25) as template for marking holes. The distance (a) between the outer edge of the license plate frame (25) and the center of the front bumper paneling (1) should be equal. Center license plate frame (25) (see picture at top) and align along contour of front bumper paneling (1) (see picture at bottom).

28. Drill four holes for assembling license plate frame (25) and install license plate frame (25) on front bumper paneling (1) with four bolts (F5x18).

Tighten bolts only with screwdriver.
