AR72.10-P-1950-05TX Height Adjustment Of Front Window

Test Values For Gap Dimensions On Hoods, Doors And Lids:

Check and adjustment values for front door:

Front Door:

Special Tool:

Special Tool:

Check
1. Jumper left front door contact switch or right front door contact switch by positioning a long wedge between closing eye and left front door contact switch or right front door contact switch
Then move crank window to uppermost position.

2. Move front door to first lock catch.

The crank window should make uniform contact with the outer window seal.

3. Check crank window course and check dimensions "a", "b" and "G", adjust if necessary

It is possible for the visible line to be adjusted correctly even though the overall height still deviates; in such cases compensate this with the height adjustment mechanism. The B-pillar cover is a fixed point and should never be readjusted

Adjustment, illustrated on vehicle without code (596) Heat insulating glass
4. Open front door and lower crank window (1) to assembly position until bolts (2) in the clamping jaws (3) are accessible.
5. Mark installation position of crank window (1) with suitable adhesive tape (arrows) in area of sealing rail on inner surface of crank window (1).

The adjustment area of the crank window (1) becomes visible during the adjustment by marking the installation position of the crank window (1).

6. Loosen screws (2).
7. Move crank window (1) horizontally and vertically in the corresponding direction.

On vehicles without code (596) Heat insulating glass, ensure that the crank window (1) makes completely contact with the front clamping jaws (3) and is raised a maximum of 5 mm in the rear clamping jaws (3).

The adhesive tape (arrows) defines the front area

8.1. Check installation position of wedge shim (4) on front clamping jaws (3).

On vehicles without code (596) Heat insulating glass. The wedge shim (4) should be offset by one third upward starting from its bottom-most position.

If required, correct adjustment position of wedge shim (4) on front clamping jaws (3)

9. Tighten bolts (2) to specified tightening torque, move crank window (1) to upper end position and move front door to first catch position
10. Recheck course of crank window (1) and dimensions "a", "b" and "G", if necessary repeat adjustment procedure or change setting of height adjuster

Check height adjuster (6)

11. Open front door, lower window (1) and move back to upper end position Check whether both height adjusters (6) audibly move simultaneously to their end stops.

Both height adjusters (6) should reach their end stops simultaneously, e.g. the crank window (1) should not tilt when moving up.

Adjust height adjuster (6)
12. Lower crank window (1) to assembly position and remove covers (5) from front and rear access cover.
13.1. Perform basic adjustment for height adjuster (6) from bottom through corresponding access cover.

Only when height adjuster (6) does not move simultaneously to end stops.

Completely turn both height adjusters (6) upward and then turn back seventeen full turns.

14. Turn height adjuster (6) from bottom through corresponding access cover.

Always turn both height adjusters (6) the same path in the same direction.

When turning height adjuster (6) to left, the crank window (1) is moved upward.

When turning height adjuster (6) to right, the crank window (1) is moved downward

One turn of the height adjuster (6) corresponds to approx. 1 mm height adjustment of the crank window (1).

15. Move crank window (1) to upper end position and check whether both height adjusters (6) simultaneously reach audibly their end stops.

Both height adjusters (6) should reach their end stops simultaneously, e.g. the crank window (1) should not tilt when moving up.

16. Move front door to first lock and check course of crank window (1) as well as dimensions "a" and "b", repeat adjustment of height adjuster (6) if necessary.
17. Open front door and install covers (5).
18. Remove long wedge between locking eye and left front door contact switch or right front door contact switch and remove adhesive tape from inner area of crank window (1).
