Component Identification:

Location
The rotary light switch is on the left next to the steering wheel.

Design
The rotary light switch contains the following components:
^ Fog lamps indicator lamp (S1e1)
^ Rear fog lamp indicator lamp (S1e2)
^ Standing lamps indicator lamp (S1e3)
^ HCS [SRA] switch (S1s1) (up to 31.5.07 with code (615) Bi- xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination or with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system)
^ Headlamp range adjustment selector wheel (S1s8) (without code (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination)

The following positions can also be selected by turning it:
^ left parking lamp (1)
^ right parking lamp (2)
^ off (3)
^ auto on/off headlamps (4)
^ standing lamp (5)
^ low beam (6)

Turning the rotary light switch to the low beam position and pulling it out to the first latching point switches on the front fog lamps; pulling it out to the second latching point also switches on the rear fog lamp.

The position of the rotary light switch and actuation of the HCS [SRA] switch is read in directly by the driver SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The function relevant to the position of the rotary light switch is then switched on.
