Via Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C):
- Engine and air conditioning electric suction fan with integrated control (M4/7) via the central gateway control unit (N93), by the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine)
Via the local interconnect network (LIN):
- Blower regulator (A32n1)
- Fresh air/air recirculation flaps actuator motor (M2/5)
- Left blend air flap actuator motor (M2/6)
- Right blend air flap actuator motor (M2/7)
- Left defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/8)
- Right defroster vent flap actuator motor (M2/9)
- Left footwell flap actuator motor (M2/10)
- Right footwell flap actuator motor (M2/11)
- Left center air flap actuator motor (M2/12)
- Right center air flap actuator motor (M2/13)
- Left rear blend air flap actuator motor (M16/30)
- Right rear blend air flap actuator motor (M16/31)
- PTC heater booster (R22/3) (with diesel engine)
- Control panel rear switch group (S81)
The following sensor signals are read in by the comfort AAC control and operating unit:
^ Direct:
- In-car temperature sensor (B10/4)
- Evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6) up to 31.8.06
^ Via CAN-B by the SAM control unit:
- Refrigerant pressure and temperature sensor (B12/2) up to 31.5.05
- Refrigerant pressure sensor (B12) as of 1.6.05
- Outside temperature display temperature sensor (B14)
- C-AAC [K-KLA] multifunction sensor (B31)
- C-AAC [K-KLA] sun sensor (4 in total) (B32/2)
^ Via CAN-B by the overhead control panel control unit (N70):
- In-car temperature sensor (N70b1)
Display
Various settings that are made on the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit are shown on the display.
The temperature is shown on the display in C or F depending on the setting that is made on the instrument cluster (A1).
Control possibilities
Air distribution selector wheel
The respective air distribution selector wheel can be used to manually set the air distribution for the left and right sides. This is displayed by an illuminated white notch at the edge of the respective air distribution selector wheel.
Automatic button
The air volume and air distribution are regulated automatically when the relevant automatic button is pressed
In automatic mode the function LED on the respective active side comes on. The "AUTO" symbol appears on the display.
Temperature rocker switch
The desired temperature setting for the left and right sides can be made by operating the relevant temperature rocker. The temperature is shown on the display.
ON/OFF button
The comfort automatic air conditioning can be completely switched off and on by pressing the on/off button. The main air flap is closed or opened accordingly. "0" appears in the display when the air conditioning is switched off.
AC button
Pressing the AC button switches the refrigerant compressor off. All other functions are retained.
Display logic of the function LED in the AC button
For vehicles up to 31.5.05, the function LED is off when the refrigerant compressor is on.
For vehicles as of 1.6.05, the function LED is on when the refrigerant compressor is on.
Window defrost switch
The temperature is set to "maximum" and the air flow distributed to the defroster and lateral nozzles. All the other flaps are closed. The blower voltage is regulated to match the coolant temperature. The "DEFROST" symbol appears in the display of the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit and the display of the control panel rear switch group (S81). The function LED in the window defrost switch comes on.
Residual heat button
The vehicle can be heated or ventilated only for up to 30 min by pressing the residual heat button. The function is only possible with circuit 15 off or circuit 15C on. If there is low voltage, the residual heat function is automatically switched off. The flaps are in automatic mode. The blower operates at a set fixed value. "REST" appears in the display.
Air volume button
Pressing the respective air volume button enables the air volume to be manually selected. The automatic air distribution remains active, provided it is switched on.
Heated rear window switch
When the button is pressed, the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit transmits a switch-on request to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via CAN B, and at the same time the function LED in the heated rear window switch comes on.
Air recirculation switch
When the air recirculation switch is pressed briefly (< 1.5 s), the main air flap is closed to prevent air entering from outside. The function LED is illuminated during operation. When pressed for a longer period (> 1.5 s), the convenience open/close windows and tilting/sliding roof (SHD) (for code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof) function is activated.
Rear remote control button
The target temperature for the rear seats can be adjusted separately by pressing the rear remote control button. The display switches to remote control mode, which is indicated on the display. Approx. 5 s after the last actuation, the display goes out.
