Location
The voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit is installed on the trunk floor behind the rear bench seat.

Task
As part of the integrated communication and audio systems in the vehicle, the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) control unit is designed for audio and communication components and navigation systems in the vehicle. The voice control system is intended to relieve the user during a journey and provide him/her with a series of functions, without diverting his/her attention from the traffic, and to enable intuitive operation of the functions.

Design
The voice control system control unit (VCS [SBS]) essentially consists of 3 subareas. One area is connected to the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) for communicating with other control units. This area converts the optical input data into electrical signals and electrical signals into optical output data. The 2nd area reads in the 4 microphones of the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) (up to 30.6.06) or the 2 microphones of the hands- free system microphone group (as of 1.7.06) and filters out the voice input of the user since this is interfered with by background noise such as air turbulence and rolling noise. The third area is the voice recognition system.
