Air Cleaner Fresh Air Duct/Hose: Service and Repair

Remove Hot Film Mass Air Flow Sensor Together With Air Intake Pipe, Install

Remove/Install

1 Remove air cleaner housing (1).

NOTE:
- Remove air cleaner by lifting vertically up and off the cylinder head covers.
- Installation: Moisten slightly with sliding compound the retaining rubbers on the cylinder head covers and the sealing ring of the hot film mass air flow sensor in the air cleaner housing.
- Liquid lubricant (Naphtolen H)

2 Separate plug (2) at hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5).
3 Detach vent line (3) from hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)
4 Release vent line (4) from bracket at hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5).
5 Open locking mechanism (5) at top of hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5)
6 Use a hook to pull up catch (6) at top of air inlet connection (7)

NOTE: To do so press the hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) as far as possible to the rear until the locking mechanism (6) cannot latch again.

7 Press locking mechanism (B) of air intake connection (7) with a screwdriver to the bottom

NOTE: To do so push back the hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) as far as possible, until the locking mechanism (6) can no longer lock into place.

8 Remove hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5) from intake manifold

NOTE: Installation: Check sealing ring (9), replace if required. Check the sealing ring between air inlet connection (7) and hot film mass air flow sensor (B2/5), replace if required. Check the catches (5, 6, 8), replace catch (5) or air inlet connection (7) if required.

9.1 Unclip pneumatic line of AIR management control system out of brackets at air intake connection (7)
10 Install in the reverse order
