Tilting/Sliding Roof Position Measurement

Direction Recognition:

Position measurement
The position counter in the overhead control panel control module (N70) counts the Hall pulses, taking account of the recognized direction of rotation of the roof system motor (M12m1). The position count increases when the tilting roof closes or the sliding roof opens. when the tilting roof opens and the sliding roof closes the position count decreases. The zero position is defined as the tilting roof open position, i.e. when the tilting roof is fully opened the counter should be at zero. The zero position is set by the normalization function. If the zero position is exceeded in the open direction, the count becomes negative.

Direction recognition
The shaft of the roof system motor (M24m1) is equipped with Hall sensor 1 (M12b1) and Hall sensor 2 (M12b2). They respond to the movement of the magnet. They each supply one square-wave pulse for each rotation of the motor shaft.

The overhead control panel control module (N70) reads these Hall pulses. From the time difference between the pulses from Hall sensor 1 and the pulses from Hall sensor 2 the overhead control panel control module (N70) recognizes the rotation direction of the motor.
