Tilting/Sliding Roof Obstruction Sensor

Obstruction sensor
The tilting/sliding roof is equipped with an excess force limiter (EFL[UKB]) that serves to prevent injuries caused by extremities getting jammed in the root This function is active only during automatic closing and convenience closing of the sliding roof. A pressure-sensitive resistance strip is provided for this purpose on the glass panel's front rubber edging.

When an obstruction is detected is by the resistance strip, or if lock up is detected, the SR[SHD] is reversed by the overhead control panel control unit (N70), i.e. moved in the direction opposite to that which produced the obstruction/lock-up. If the roof is tilting, it is moved to the upper tilt stop. The open sliding roof is opened to s = 125 m if it is further than s = 125 from the rear limit stop at the time of obstruction/lockup. If the roof is closer to the rear limit stop it will be opened completely. In the absence of Hall sensor signals the sliding/tilting roof will be reversed fort = 1s if it is at least s = 150 mm from the rear limit stop. After this time the roof will be denormalized if there are still no Hall pulses. If the roof is near the rear limit stop it will be switched off immediately since no mechanical load may be placed on the stop.

NOTE: Automatic opening/closing of the tilting/sliding roof is not possible if the excess force limiter is defective.
