Removal
Door trim must be removed first.

1. Remove ignition key
2. Drill out rivets [1] at retaining plate [3] of side airbag unit [2] and take side airbag off the door.
3. Unplug connector at side airbag squib [R12/9 or R12/10].

NOTE: When the connector is unplugged a short-circuit bridge in the plug connection of the squib is automatically activated.

WARNING: No further work may be performed on the airbag unit. The airbag unit must be stowed under personal supervision or, if it is removed for a lengthy period, under lock and key.
Stow removed airbag units so that the outlet opening of the airbag (padded side) is facing up.
