Adjust Vehicle Electronic Level Control System

CHECKING
1. Drive vehicle onto measuring system with rolling or sliding plates
- Lamp in high/normal level control switch (S77/1s2): OFF
- Normal vehicle level is adjusted
2. Check and correct oil level of level control
3. Check vehicle level at wishbone or spring link as follows:
- Install measuring device (01) tool No. 201 589 00 21 00, or equivalent, for front axle as shown
- Install measuring device (02) tool No. 201 589 01 21 00, or equivalent, for rear axle as shown
- If level values are outside tolerance proceed to ADJUSTING

ADJUSTING
1. Connect Hand-Held Tester (HHT), (087) to Data Link Connector (DLC) (X11/4) for Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) readout, refer to Engine

NOTE: The vehicle level must not be adjusted

2. Engine: Idling
3. Select HHT menu item: "FA/RA level adjustment"
4. "Lower" vehicle at front/rear axle with HHT and terminate with "STOP" if the vehicle level is not achieved

NOTE:
^ An adjustment must always be performed from the bottom (lower level) upwards (higher level)
^ If necessary, the vehicle must be moved up and down several times for lowering
^ If the vehicle was lowered below the specified value by more than 45 mm, a fault is stored

5. Adjust vehicle level at front/rear axle with HHT by "Raising" and confirm with "STOP" when vehicle level is achieved
- In the event of any subsequent correction, wait for overload protection time
- Set values:
- Vehicle level-front axle
- Vehicle level-rear axle
6. Store adjusted vehicle level with HHT (set control module to specified value "0"), by confirming "Store normal level in control module" with "Yes"
- The level values (actual values) displayed in the HHT are deviations from the specified values stored in the control module These are set to "0" after storage
7. Engine: OFF
8. Erase fault memory
- If the vehicle was lowered below the specified value by more than 45 mm, a fault is stored
9. Check and correct headlamp adjustment
