AR32.20-P-0200FB Remove/Install Front Spring

Replacement






NOTE:
^ Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
^ Refer to general information on springs. Application and ID

WARNING:
^ The vehicle must be on its wheels for removing the upper shock absorber fixing
^ Do not raise vehicle until spring is secured
^ Risk of injury from being trapped or crushed when working on preloaded springs or spring bodies


REMOVAL
1. Insert clamping plates (01b, 01c) tool No. 202 589 13 63 00, or equivalent.

NOTE:
^ Only use approved clamping devices and if appropriate also screen off the danger area
^ Check special tools for damage and function, (visual inspection)
^ Wear safety gloves

2. Insert clamping device (01a) tool No. 202 589 01 31 or 202 589 02 31 00, or equivalent
3. Compress front spring
4. Remove front spring (12) with rubber mount (13)
5. Clean wishbone (31) in area of support surface

INSTALLATION
- Install in reverse order, noting the following:
- Replace self-locking nut (11a)
- Install plastic support (arrow in illustration B)
- After replacing the front spring or rubber mount, check and correct headlamp adjustment
- Tighten self-locking nut for fastening shock absorber to front end to: 40 Nm
