OVERVIEW
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Part 1 Of 2:
Part 2 Of 2:
KNOCKING OUT VALVE GUIDE
1 Knockout valve guide (54) from the combustion chamber side with the drift (1) 111 589 02 15 00 7mm or 103 589 03 15 00 8mm.
REAMING OUT BASIC BORE TO STANDARD SIZE 1
1 Use reamer (3) to ream out basic bore to standard size1; lubricate with petroleum during this step. Use only slight pressure when reaming and do not twist the reamer (3). Clean the blades of the reamer (3) before each reaming operation.
REAMING OUT BASIC BORE TO REPAIR SIZE 1
Test Data Of Valve Guides
1 Insert guide sleeve (9) with broaching tool (8) into bucket tappet basic bore.
2 Press broaching tool (8) through.
Lubricate with petroleum for this step; clean broaching tool (8) with compressed air or plastic brush after each broaching operation. Use a suitable aluminum drift as an extension for pressing through the broaching tool (8) in the area of the guide sleeve (9).
Use guide sleeve 104 589 Of 63 00 and broaching tool 704 589 0153 00 for basic bore 13.7 mm.
Use guide sleeve 179 589 05 63 00 and broaching tool 119 589 0153 00 for bask bore 12.7mm
INSERTING AND CHECKING VALVE GUIDE
Test Data Of Valve Guides
1 Heat cylinder head in a water bath or on a heating plate to approximately 80°C.
2 Use insertion drift (7) to knock in valve guides (54) as far as a stop.
The insertion depth is fixed by the drift.
3 Inspect valve guide (54) and valve for burrs, ream if necessary with reamer 7 mm 102 589 0153 00 or 8 mm 000 589 2153 00.
Insertion drift (7) 119 589 02 15 00 inlet 7mm for basic bore 13.5 or 13.7
Insertion drift (7) 606 589 02 15 00 inlet and exhaust 7mm for basic bore 12.5 or 12.7
4 Check installation depth (c) of valve guide (54) and correct if necessary.
5 Clean valve guides with cylinder brush 000 589 10 68 00.
