B. Installation of Babysmart(TM) ACSR Harness
Procedure
1. Lay-out ACSR wiring harness as shown in Figure 3. Route ACSR wiring harness along existing SRS harness and install as indicated in steps 2 through 22.
2. Remove SRS control module (N2/2, Figure 4) from center console.
3. Remove (twist) cable securing SRS connector to locking lever. Disconnect SRS harness connector (3, Figure 5) from SRS control module (N22). Pull SRS harness connector (3) out from left side of center console.
4. Slide contact carrier retaining clip forward (arrow, Figure 6) and remove contact carrier (4, Figure 7) from harness connector housing (3).
5. Remove existing wires (Figure 7), positions 15, 33 (if present) from contact carrier (these wires are no longer used).
6. Insulate connectors on wires (removed from contact carrier) with premium quality electrical tape (e.g. 3M Scotch(R) 33) and tie back along SRS harness with electrical tape.
7. Insert brown/white wire (Figure 7) from ACSR harness (1) into contact carrier position 15. Insert green/white wire (Figure 7) from ACSR harness (1) into contact carrier position 33.
Note:
Ensure that wires/connectors (with locking tabs) are fully inserted into contact carrier and are locked into place.
8. Insert contact carrier (4, Figure 7) into harness connector (3) and close locking clip.
9. Connect SRS harness connector (3, Figure 6) to SRS control module (N2/2). If necessary, secure harness connector to SRS control module with cable tie.
10. Install SRS control module (N2/2) using allen bolts (2, Figure 8).
Note:
Secure ground wire (5, Figure 8) from SRS harness, with bolt (2), under left side of SRS control module (N2/2)
11. Secure gray/blue wire from ACSR harness to terminal X6 (Figure 9) circuit 58d.
12. Connect brown wire from ACSR harness to ground on center console (W12, Figure 10).
Note:
Ensure that ACSR ground wire (brown) is bolted directly to the vehicle body.
13. Route ACSR indicator lamp subharness (1, Figure 11) with connector (2), from ACSR harness to center console (as shown in Figure 11) and secure to existing harness using cable ties.
14. Route black/yellow wire (ACSR sub-harness along diagonal support tube (which connects to steering column), over steering column, along main harness going to fuse and relay box (F1).
WARNING!
Secure wire with cable ties, (arrows) ensure that wire is routed away from steering column and sharp edges that may cause chafing!
15. Connect black/yellow wire (ACSR sub-harness (1, Figure 13]) to fuse and relay box (F1) fuse 22 (fuse 22 will have a pink/yellow wire on the power side) at coupling A of terminal 15R.
Note:
^ Refer to ETM model 129, section 00; F1 (fuse and relay box) for fuse box layout.
^ Secure any slack in black/yellow wire using cable ties as needed in fuse and relay box area.
16. Route passenger seat ACSR sub-harness (1, Figure 14) in wire harness tray located along the right floor area.
17. Route ACSR wiring harness (1, Figure 15) from harness tray to right side, under carpet and secure to existing harness.
18. If vehicle is equipped with occupied seat recognition, secure wire (6. Figure 15) which is no longer needed, under passenger seat with cable tie and insulate connector with premium quality electrical tape (e.g. 3M Scotch(R) 33)
19. Route ACSR sub-harness (1, Figure 16), with occupied seat recognition/ACSR connector (x28/18), along existing harness and secure with cable ties (arrows).
20. Remove central locking interior control switch.
21. Install new central locking interior control switch (7, Figure 17) with "AIRBAG OFF" indicator lamp (part no. 129 680 19 84).
22. Connect ACSR indicator lamp connector to ACSR indicator lamp (E16).
23. Reinstall components in reverse order of removal.
WARNING!
Ensure that all wires/harnesses are neatly routed away from areas of the vehicle where they may become pinched or chaffed and secure wires/harnesses with cable ties.
