Task
Test of fuel evaporation control system for proper operation of components and leakage.

Function
The test of the fuel evaporation control system is carried out, if the following conditions are simultaneously fulfilled:
- no fault of electrical actuation purge control valves
- Actuation of purge control valves with an on/off ratio between approx. 40 - 60%.

If all conditions are fulfilled, the ME control module detects (engine 120: N3/12) via the purge system monitoring pressure sensor (B4/4) the pressure in the line from the activated charcoal canister to the purge control valves.

The pressure flow in the line oscillates according to the pulsed actuation of the purge control valves.

The ME control module monitors these pressure surges for approx. 4 s, if the pressure values differ by less than 50 mbar, fault is detected.
At a higher location a height correction is performed (e.g. above 2400 m pressure surges of approx. 11 mbar are permissible).
