C. Installation of crankshaft/ring gear retaining lock

Models 129, 140, 202, 210

1. Turn engine (in direction of engine rotation) to TDC.

2. Remove lower engine panel.





3. Remove cover (2, Figure 8) at rear of oil pan.

4. Remove bolts (1).

5. Install retaining lock (3 [special tool no.601 589 02 40 00]) using bolts (4).

!CAUTION!
^ Bolt on retaining lock (3) with M6 x 90 bolts (4) otherwise the threads in the rear closing cover will be damaged.

^ REMOVE RETAINING LOCK AFTER TORQUING NEW DAMPER PULLEY.
