D. Rear Apron (Model 202)

Preparation





1. Remove fasteners (arrows, Figure 12) and rear trim panel.

2. Press side trim to side and remove mounting nut and washer.

3. Remove bumper towards rear.

Disassembling the bumper





4. Remove rub strip by unscrewing screws on left and right ends of bumper.
Using a plastic wedge, pry back retaining tabs two at a time starting from the outside. Remove rub strip and foam inserts.

5. Remove holder and impact absorber sections.

6. Remove chrome moldings.

Assembly





7. Insert impact absorber and holder on AMG beam.

8. Insert preassembled beam into AMG rear skirt and secure with the fasteners provided.

9. Secure reinforcement and chrome moldings with clips.

10. Secure trim piece to reinforcement using fasteners provided.

Final assembly

11. Install rear apron/bumper assembly on vehicle without fully tightening mounting bolts.





12. Inspect alignment of assembly and adjust if necessary (A 5 mm, Figure 15).

13. Tighten mounting bolts.
