A. Front Air Dam/Bumper Cover (Model 140 Coupe)

Removing original bumper





1. Open covers (1, Figure 1) and disengage retaining straps.

2. Disconnect outside temperature sensor from left cover. Remove nut (2, Figure 1) and washer.

3. Disconnect fog lamp wiring and remove bumper towards front.

Disassembling bumper





4. Remove chrome molding by removing clips, SMS Job No. 88-205 (arrow, Figure 2). Remove beam.

5. Remove left and right mounting screws. Drill out rivets at sides. Using a screwdriver, pry back retaining tabs. Remove license plate bracket.

6. Remove fog lamp mounting screws and remove sheet metal nuts from fog lamp housings.

Assembly

7. Insert beam into AMG air dam/bumper cover. Press in upper retaining tabs. Install left and right mounting screws. Secure beam at the sides using the fasteners supplied.





8. Using fasteners provided secure fog lamp to original bracket (A, Figure 3).

9. Screw fog lamp holder to tab of outer covering (B, Figure 3), using the sheet metal screws provided.

10. Position chrome moldings and secure using clips.

Final assembly

11. Install the bumper and spoiler assembly on vehicle without tightening bolts fully.





12. Inspect alignment of assembly and adjust if necessary (A = 5 mm, Figure 4).

13. Plug the fog lamp wiring into the 2-pin connector.

14. Modify the license plate bracket to fit.

15. Secure the license plate bracket using the sheet metal screws supplied.





16. Remove retaining straps from mounting bolt access flaps (1, Figure 5) and press into AMG flaps.

17. Press retaining straps into front spoiler/bumper.

18. Press outside temperature sensor and mounting clip into opening provided.

19. To adjust driving lamps, open access flaps and adjust by turning Phillips head adjusting screws, Figure 5).





20. Warm AMG logo and mounting surface to 40 °C using heat gun. Apply logo according to Figure 6.
