Dampers also serve as a secondary suspension travel limiter at front wheels. For this reason strut mounts should never be loosened unless vehicle is standing on its wheels, control arm supported or spring compressor plates installed.
1. Remove engine compartment righthand cover.
2. Ensure piston rods does not turn, then remove hexagon nuts, plate and bushing.
3. Remove over-voltage protection relay from lefthand side.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Remove lower shock absorber hexagonal bolt.
6. Use suitable floor jack to support wheel suspension assembly.
7. Push shock absorber upward and away from lower mounting, then remove out front.
8. Reverse procedure to install, ensuring shock absorber color code is facing front.
