A. Front Air Dam/Bumper Cover (Model 202)
Removing original bumper1. Open covers (1, Figure 1) and disengage retaining straps.
2. Disconnect outside temperature sensor from left cover. Remove nut (2, Figure 1) and washer.
3. Remove side brackets and remove bumper towards front.
Disassembling bumper
4. Remove rub strip by unscrewing screws on left and right ends of bumper.
Using a screwdriver, pry back retaining tabs two at a time starting from the outside. Remove rub strip and foam inserts.
5. Remove chrome molding for reuse on AMG part.
6. Remove plastic nut and self tapping screw from inner wheel well liner and remove brake cooling duct. Remove wheel well liner.
Assembly
7. Insert driving lamps into openings provided and secure in place using rivets supplied.
8. Insert impact absorber and screw holder on to AMG beam using original fasteners.
9. Insert preassembled beam into AMG air dam/bumper cover and secure using the rivets provided.
10. Secure beam at sides using the screws provided.
11. Position chrome strips and secure with clips.
Final assembly
12. Lift bumper and spoiler assembly and route driving lamp wiring up towards the headlamps.
13. Install the bumper and spoiler assembly on vehicle without tightening nuts fully.
14. Inspect alignment of assembly and adjust if necessary (A = 5 mm, Figure 4) and tighten mounting nuts.
15. Modify tight side AMG brake cooling duct to allow attachment of engine mount cooling duct.
16. To connect the driving lamps, install the combined 6-pin plug/socket (a, Figure 5) in the vehicle and insert between the 4-pin socket on the headlamp assembly (b) and the 4-pin standard production plug (c).
Note:
U.S. version vehicles have only 4 pins. Remove the 2 unused pins on end of plug nearest to harness.
Plug the driving lamp wiring into the two pin connector and secure with the wire ties provided.
17. Install brake cooling ducts by inserting duct into spoiler from rear and securing. Install inner wheel well lining and secure duct diagonally with self-tapping screws supplied.
18. Warm AMG logo and mounting surface to 40°C using heat gun. Position logo according to Figure 6.
19. Remove retaining straps (3, Figure 7) from mounting bolt access flaps (1) and snap AMG flaps.
20. Snap retaining straps into front spoiler/bumper cover.
21. Press outside temperature sensor into the recess provided.
22. To adjust driving lamps, open access flaps and adjust lamps by turning Phillips head screws (4, Figure 7).
23. Close access flaps.
