C. Rear Apron (Model 140 Sedan)

Preparation





1. Open tail lamp cover and remove rivet plastic (arrow, Figure 11).





2. Remove rivets (arrows, Figure 12).

3. Push trim pieces to side or top and remove mounting screws and washers (qty. 6).

4. Remove bumper towards rear.

Disassembling the bumper





5. Remove clips and chrome moldings (Figure 13), SMS Job No. 88-225.
Remove left and right mounting screws and remove beam.

Using a screwdriver, press retaining clip out of outer mounting. Drill out the side mounting brackets.

Assembly

6. Insert beam into AMG rear skirt.

7. Press upper and lower retaining tabs into place. If necessary, apply hot glue to tabs to keep in place.

8. Install left and right mounting screws.

9. Install side brackets with screws supplied (flat head screws on top).

10. Install chrome moldings.

Final assembly

11. Install rear apron/bumper assembly on vehicle without fully tightening mounting bolts.





12. Inspect alignment of assembly and adjust if necessary (A = 5 mm, Figure 14).

13. Tighten mounting bolts.

14. Reinstall trim pieces and tail lamp cover.
