Preliminary work:
Check and adjust gap and transitions at front door
Trim on outside of front door removed
NOTE: Front door, window lift, crank window retaining rail and guide rail, rear modified as of 01/94. It is no longer necessary to remove the door liner. Crank window can be adjusted completely from outside except for depth stop on window lift.
Adjusting
1 Loosen height stop (4) on window lift (T30 Torx socket bolt).
2 Completely open rear side window.
3 Open crank window in front door.
4 Loosen rear closing wedge (6).
5 Center crank window and adjust parallel to door shaft, correct with adjustment screw (2) on bottom bearing bracket of both guide rails. Additional adjustment possibility on upper mounting screw (7, T30 Torx socket bolt) of rear guide rail (oblong hole).
6 Close crank window and check fit. the outer edge of the glass should touch the outer rubber lip over the entire length.

7 Correct inclination and height of crank window: Loosen Torx screws (1), move crank window to correct position and retighten Torx screws. Adjust crank window longitudinally with Torx screw (3).
NOTE: Torx screws (1) and (3) are accessible only with the crank window lowered.
8 Adjust initial tension of crank window toward inside with screw (2) using special tool 140 589 04 09 00.
9 Adjust height stop (4) on window lift with crank window closed and adjusted by positioning stop against window lift segment and tightening screw (T30 Torx screw).
10 Close crank window.
11 Adjust closing wedge (6) so that rear edge of glass touches closing wedge and makes contact at side.
12 Close front door, check fit and seal between crank window and rear window stay. If necessary adjust rear window stay.
13 The rear window stay can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction by pulling off the inner trim toward the rear, loosening screws (arrows), adjusting window stay so that it is parallel and retightening screws.
14 Reinstall outer trim.
