Testing Battery Capacity (Load Test)




Preliminary work:
Checking state of charge, Check Condition of Battery






Quiescent current retention unit
disconnect, connect.

Battery
disconnect, reconnect. Disconnecting and Connecting Battery

Battery
remove, install.

Electrolyte density
measure, min. 1.24 kg/dm cu; if electrolyte density <1.24 kg/dm cu, charge battery

NOTE: On vehicles with two batteries both batteries must be removed and tested separately.

Load test at 20 °C
perform.

Battery minimum voltage
check, specification after 10 seconds approx. 10 V or >10 V.

If specified value is not reached, renew battery.
If specified value is reached, charge battery.

Electrolyte density
measure, specification 1.28 kg/dm cu.

Acidimeter e.g. Hazet
Volt/ampere tester with load resistor e.g. Hermann, Electronic
Quiescent current retention unit e.g. Hans Zeheter CMP 12.2
