Removing/Installing Belt Pulley of Vibration Damper and Hub





Preparation
- Viscous fan coupling removed, refer to Cooling System.
- Drive belt tensioning device removed. Service and Repair

Procedure
- Disconnect ground cable at battery, connect.
- Remove generator (1), install.
- Attach shop made guard plate at radiator, take off.
- Remove viscous fan coupling bearing bracket (2), install, refer to Cooling System.
- Unbolt bracket of A/C compressor carrier (3), bolt on.
- Turn piston of cylinder No. 1 to TDC so that Woodruff key (15) in crankshaft is facing vertically up.
- Install retaining lock for crankshaft/ring gear, remove. [1][2]Procedures
- Unscrew central bolt (19) with tapered washer (20), screw on.
Tighten to: 200 Nm + 90°.
NOTE: Conical washer (20) replaces dished washers; the different parts of the 2 versions must not be interchanged.

- Pull off vibration damper (18), remove upward, fit on.

NOTE: Align Woodruff key (15), fit on vibration damper (18) and turn in order to determine whether the slot is aligned with the Woodruff key (15) in the crankshaft.
