Brake Pad Wear Sensor: Description and Operation

Rear Wheel Brake Wear Sensors:

On vehicles with ASR, the rear wheel brakes have brake pad lining wear sensors like those on the front brakes.

The brake calipers are malleable cast iron. The wear sensor connectors (S10/3 left and S10/4 right) bolt to cast-on fastener eyes. The pads differ from the normal version by recesses in the backing plate that serve to fasten the wear sensors. The brake pad size and type of material are identical with those on vehicles without ASR.

The rear wheel brake wear sensors use the same clip-on sensors as the front wheel brakes.

The wires must be routed as shown in the picture.
