Cause:
Injection pump runs dry. Internal leak. Air bubbles are visible in fuel supply line.

Remedy:
Check main fuel filter for leakage. Replace if necessary. Check upper filter connections for leakage and vent bore for fuel return flow for clear passage. Replace or clean if necessary Check overflow orifice on injection pump return flow.

Check injection pump for leakage:

With fuel tank approx. 1/2 full, raise front of vehicle approx. 40 cm. No air bubbles should be visible in fuel supply and return lines within 10 minutes of shutting off engine. Replace injection pump if necessary.

Note:
If leakage was found to be in injection pump, check engine oil fuel dilution. Change engine oil.
