Fuel Rack Position Sensor - Cover Installation

INSTALLING COVER ON FUEL RACK POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR
MODELS 124.133/193 AND 126.125

As of mid September 1986, the connector for the fuel rack position sensor on the injection pump is installed with a protective cover. The cover should be installed in vehicles built prior to the production change during their next scheduled maintenance or repair.

Procedure





1. Remove connector on fuel rack position sensor (L7) by turning safety lock (arrow) counterclockwise and pulling connector off (Figure 1)

2. Open connector and pull out individual terminals. Remove any signs of corrosion or replace terminals, if necessary.

3. Using a snap ring pliers, widen the cable opening in the cover and pull wires through opening.





4. Inert individual terminals into connector according to Figure 2.

Note:
Follow correct wire color codes.

gn = green
bl = blue
sw/br = black/brown

5. Install cover (1) on connector (Figure 2).

6. Attach connector and engage safety lock again by turn it clockwise.

7. Function test

- Coolant temperature 60 - 80°C.
- Automatic climate control off.
- Transsion gear selector lever in position "P".





- Connect vacuum tester 201 589 13 21 00 with Y-fitting to EGR valve (60, Figure 3).
- Run engine at 1200 rpm. The vacuum value should be approx. 250 - 350 mbar.
- Using accelerator pedal, briefly increase engine speed to full throttle. The vacuum value must decrease to less than 50 mbar.
