Pressure Control Flap, EGR

1. Connect vacuum tester with Y distributor onto EGR valve. Check vacuum values and position of pressure control flap.
a. With an engine speed of approximately 750 RPM, nominal vacuum reading obtained should be zero and pressure control flap should be in its basic (normal) position.
b. With an engine speed of approximately 1200 RPM, nominal vacuum reading obtained should be 150 - 300 mbar (4.4 - 10.3 in. Hg) of vacuum, and pressure control flap should be in its fully attracted position.
c. With an engine speed of 3000 RPM, nominal vacuum reading should be zero and pressure control flap should be in its basic (normal) position.
d. If test values are correct proceed to next step.
e. If test values are incorrect, check pressure supply, replace any defective component.

2. With an engine speed of approximately 1200 RPM, operate micro switch I (mounted to cable bracket). Pressure on EGR valve should drop to zero and pressure control flap should move into its basic (not activated) position.

3. Actuate micro switch II (mounted to micro switch I). Pressure control flap should move into its basic (not activated) position. If flap does not move into its proper position, test vacuum control valve.
