REPLACEMENT OF TRAP OXIDIZER AND INSPECTION OF TURBOCHARGER
ENGINE 617A - CALIFORNIA VERSION
MODELS 123 AND 126 MODEL 1985

Removal and Installation of Trap Oxidizer





1. Remove air filter housing.

2. Disconnect oil return line from turbocharger.

3. Remove EGR line.

4. Unflange exhaust pipe from turbocharger.

5. Disconnect oil supply line from turbocharger.

6. Loosen mounting bracket for turbocharger on exhaust manifold.

7. Unbolt turbocharger housing from trap oxidizer.

8. Remove turbocharger.

9. Unbolt trap oxidizer mounting.

10. Unflange trap oxidizer from exhaust manifold.

11. Install new trap oxidizer on exhaust manifold.

12. Visual inspection of turbocharger





Check for holes (as shown in Figure 2) in the turbocharger housing. Check turbine blades for damages, and turbine assembly for ease of movement by rotating it by hand. Blow out any loose particles with compressed air.

13. Reassemble all parts in reverse order.

NOTE:
Replace gaskets for oil supply and return lines.
