Radiator Cooling Fan Temperature Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation

High Temperature Switch Location:

PURPOSE

The 100°C temperature switch, which is located near the water pump, activates the auxiliary fan (high speed) to prevent engine overheat.

OPERATION

Wired in parallel with the high pressure switch at the receiver drier, the temperature switch completes the ground circuit for the high speed fan relay at approx. 212°F (100°C), activating the auxiliary fan (high speed). As the temperature drops below approx. 200°F (94°C) the circuit is opened and fan operation discontinues.
