The number of repair stages for valve guide replacement has been reduced. Only one standard and one repair version are now available (formerly three standard and two repair versions were available)..
The standard version (color code: grey-brown) is now dimensioned so that it can be used for almost all repairs. Before inserting these valve guides, the bores in the cylinder head should be reamed with a standard reamer (with a diameter of 14.035 or 15.035 mm).
When use of the repair version (color code: red) is necessary, the bores in the cylinder head must be machined with a broach (diameter: 14.2 or 15.2 mm). For this procedure a guide sleeve is required, because the bore for the valve guide and the valve seat insert must be accurately aligned. The guide sleeve and broach combinations for the various engines are shown in Table 2 of the attached Work Instructions.
The procedures for installing both the standard and repair version valve guides are described in the attached Work Instructions. The applicable microfiches have also been revised accordingly.
STORAGE CASE FOR SPECIAL TOOLS:
The necessary special tools (new and existing) are also shown in the Work Instructions. A specially designed case (see Figure) is also available for storing these special tools (except removal and installation drifts).
