Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair





TRANSAXLE FLUID TEMPERATURE (TFT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FS5A-EL]

WARNING:
- Do not perform the servicing while the ATF is hot. Otherwise, it could cause severe burns or serious injury.
- Always wear protective eye wear when using the air compressor. If the air compressor is used, any particles of dirt or soiling could spatter and get into the eyes.

CAUTION:
- Do not allow foreign material or water to penetrate the connector. Otherwise, it could cause poor contact and corrosion.

1. Remove the primary control valve body.
a. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

b. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

c. Remove the aerodynamic under cover. Service and Repair

d. Clean the outside of the transaxle using steam or detergent oil.

e. Drain the ATF. Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement

f. Remove the air cleaner component. Service and Repair

g. Disconnect the coupler component connector.






h. Remove the oil pan.

i. Remove the primary control valve body. Service and Repair

2. Remove the coupler component from the transaxle case.






3. Remove the O-ring from the coupler component.

4. Install the primary control valve body.
a. Install a new O-ring with ATF applied to the coupler component.

b. Install the coupler component to the transaxle case.

c. Install the primary control valve body. Service and Repair

5. Apply sealant (TB1217E) to the contact surface of the oil pan.






CAUTION:
- Clear oil sealant remaining on the contact surface of the transaxle case and oil pan, and clean the sealant area using detergent oil. Otherwise, oil could leak.

6. Install the oil pan before the applied sealant starts to harden.

Tightening torque
- 6.0-8.0 Nm {62-81 kgf-cm, 54-70 in-lbf}

7. Connect the coupler component connector.






8. Install the air cleaner component. Service and Repair

9. Add ATF. Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement

10. Install the aerodynamic under cover. Service and Repair

11. Connect the negative battery cable.

12. Install the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

13. Perform the mechanical system test. Mechanical System Test
