KEY INTERLOCK SYSTEM INSPECTION
Key Interlock System Inspection
1. Switch the ignition ON.
2. Inspect the key interlock system as follows:
- If there is any malfunction, inspect the key interlock solenoid and NOT P position switch.
a. Verify that the ignition cannot be switched OFF when the selector lever is in a position other than P.
b. Verify that the ignition can be switched OFF when the selector lever is in the P position.
Key Interlock Solenoid Inspection
CAUTION:
- Do not allow foreign material or water to penetrate the connector. Otherwise, it could cause poor contact and corrosion.
1. Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector.
a. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement
b. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
c. Remove the column cover. Service and Repair
d. Disconnect the key interlock solenoid connector.
2. Measure the resistance between the key interlock solenoid terminals A and B.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the steering lock. Service and Repair
Key Interlock Solenoid Resistance
- 32.4-39.6 ohm
NOT P Position Switch Inspection
CAUTION:
- Do not allow foreign material or water to penetrate the connector. Otherwise, it could cause poor contact and corrosion.
1. Disconnect the selector lever component connector.
a. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement
b. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
c. Remove the center console box. Center Console Box Removal/Installation
d. Remove the console panel. Console Panel Removal/Installation
e. Remove the center console. Center Console Removal/Installation
f. Remove the selector lever knob.
g. Remove the shift panel. Shift Panel Removal/Installation
h. Remove the side wall. Side Wall Removal/Installation
i. Remove the front console. Front Console Removal/Installation
j. Disconnect the selector lever component connector.
2. Measure the continuity between the selector lever component terminals I and K.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component. Automatic Transaxle Shift Mechanism Removal/Installation
NOT P position switch continuity
