INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION

NOTE:
- Verify if a DTC is detected before inspecting the instrument cluster. DTC Inspection - Instrument Cluster

Speedometer Inspection

Using a speedometer tester

1. Adjust the tire pressure to the specification.

2. Using a speedometer tester, verify that the tester reading is as indicated in the following table.









3. Verify that the speedometer reading is within the range indicated in the table.

- If the speedometer does not operate or the indication is not within the allowable range, inspect the following:

- PCM
- TCM (ATX vehicles)
- ABS HU/CM (With ABS)
- DSC HU/CM (With DSC)
- Related wiring harness

- If the PCM, TCM (vehicles with ATX), ABS HU/CM (vehicles with ABS) or DSC HU/CM (vehicles with DSC), and related wiring harnesses are normal, replace the instrument cluster.

Using the M-MDS (IDS):

1. Connect the M-MDS (IDS) to the DLC-2.

2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the IDS.
a. Select "DataLogger".

b. Select "Modules".

c. Select "IC".

3. Verify that the displayed information is as according to the table using "SPDMTR".

- If the speedometer does not operate or the indication is not within the allowable range, inspect the related wiring harnesses.

- If the related wiring harness is normal, replace the instrument cluster.





Tachometer Inspection

CAUTION:
- If the engine speed exceeds the allowable range, the engine could be damaged. Therefore, when inspecting the tachometer, do not allow the engine speed to exceed the allowable range indicated on the tachometer.

1. Connect the M-MDS (IDS) to the DLC-2.

2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the IDS.
a. Select "DataLogger".

b. Select "Modules".

c. Select "IC".

3. Verify that the displayed information is as according to the table using "TACHOMTR".

- If the tachometer does not operate or the indication is not within the allowable range, inspect the related wiring harnesses.

- If the related wiring harness is normal, replace the instrument cluster.





Fuel Gauge Inspection

1. Connect the M-MDS (IDS) to the DLC-2.

2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the IDS.
a. Select "DataLogger".

b. Select "Modules".

c. Select "IC".

3. Verify that the segment is displayed according to the table using "LCD_SEG".

- If segment is not displayed, inspect the related wiring harness.

- If the related wiring harness is normal, replace the instrument cluster.





Warning/Indicator Light Illumination Inspection

- If any of the warning/indicator lights are not displayed, replace the instrument cluster.

Initial check

1. Switch the ignition ON.

2. Verify that the warning/indicator lights in the table below illuminate.

Using the M-MDS

1. Connect the M-MDS (IDS) to the DLC-2.

2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the IDS.
a. Select "DataLogger".

b. Select "Modules".

c. Select "IC".

3. Verify that the warning/indicator lights in the following table illuminate using "WL+IL".
