Component Tests and General Diagnostics





BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) INSPECTION

1. Remove the following parts:
a. Dashboard under cover (passenger's side) Dashboard Under Cover Removal/Installation

b. Glove compartment Service and Repair

c. Side wall Side Wall Removal/Installation

d. Center console box Center Console Box Removal/Installation

e. Console panel Console Panel Removal/Installation

f. Center console Center Console Removal/Installation

g. Shift lever knob (MTX) Service and Repair

h. Selector lever knob (ATX) Automatic Transaxle Shift Mechanism Removal/Installation

i. Shift panel Shift Panel Removal/Installation

j. Front console Front Console Removal/Installation

k. Side panel Side Panel Removal/Installation

l. Front scuff plate (passenger's side) Front Scuff Plate Removal/Installation

m. Front side trim (passenger's side) Front Side Trim Removal/Installation

n. Lower panel (passenger's side) Lower Panel Removal/Installation

2. Remove the BCM with the connector connected. Body Control Module (BCM) Removal/Installation

3. Measure the voltage at each terminal is as indicated in the Terminal Voltage Tables.

- If the voltage or continuity is not as specified in the Terminal Voltage Table, inspect the parts under "Inspection item (s)".

- If the system does not work properly even though the parts or related wiring harnesses do not have any malfunction, replace the BCM.

Pattern 1





- Terminal:

- Hood latch switch signal: 1J (+) -> body ground (-)
- Sliding door switch (LH) signal: 6E (+) -> body ground (-)
- Lock input (Driver-side front door lock-link switch): 6I (+) -> body ground (-)
- Lock/unlock input (passenger-side front door lock-link switch) (sliding door lock link switch (RH, LH)): 6J (+) -> body ground (-)
- Sliding door switch (RH) signal: 6K (+) -> body ground (-)
- Unlock input (Driver-side front door lock-link switch): 6L (+) -> body ground (-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 1 V/DIV (Y), 1 ms/DIV (X), DC range

Pattern 2





- Terminal:

- Front door switch (driver-side) signal: 6G (+) -> body ground (-)
- Front door switch (passenger-side) signal: 6H (+) -> body ground (-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 2 V/DIV (Y), 1 ms/DIV (X), DC range

Pattern 3





- Terminal: 2E (+) -> body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 5 V/DIV (Y), 200 microsecond/DIV (X), DC range

Door lock actuators 2-step unlocking (Reference)





- Terminal: 5K (+) -> body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 2 V/DIV (Y), 200 ms/DIV (X), DC range
- Measurement condition: Door lock actuators 2-step unlocking

Inspection Using an Oscilloscope (Reference)

Interior light control






- Terminal connected: 5N (+) -> Body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 5 V/DIV (Y), 5 s/DIV (X), DC range
