Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Testing and Inspection





ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR INSPECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

ECT Sensor No.1

Resistance inspection

WARNING:
- When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Removal and Replacement

3. Remove the plug hole plate. Plug Hole Plate Removal/Installation

4. Drain the engine coolant. Service and Repair

5. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Service and Repair

6. Disconnect the ECT sensor No.1 connector.

7. Remove the ECT sensor No.1. Service and Repair

8. Place the ECT sensor No.1 in water with a thermometer, and heat the water gradually.






9. Measure the resistance between ECT sensor No.1 terminals A and B.






- If not as specified, replace the ECT sensor No.1. Service and Repair

ECT Sensor No.2

Resistance inspection

WARNING:
- When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1. Remove the battery cover. Removal and Replacement

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Removal and Replacement

3. Remove the plug hole plate. Plug Hole Plate Removal/Installation

4. Drain the engine coolant. Service and Repair

5. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Service and Repair

6. Remove the battery tray and PCM component. Removal and Replacement

7. Disconnect the short cord connector of ECT sensor No.2. Service and Repair

8. Set the PCM harness protector aside. Removal and Replacement

9. Remove the bolts from the bracket. Service and Repair

10. Lift up the bracket.

11. Disconnect the ECT sensor No.2 connector. Service and Repair

12. Remove the ECT sensor No.2 and water pipe from the bracket. Service and Repair

13. Remove the ECT sensor No.2 from the water pipe. Service and Repair

14. Place the ECT sensor No.2 in water with a thermometer, and heat the water gradually.






15. Measure the resistance between ECT sensor No.2 terminals A and B.






- If not as specified, replace the ECT sensor No.2. Service and Repair
