Road Test - AW6A-EL




ROAD TEST [AW6A-EL]

WARNING:
- When performing a road test, be aware of other vehicles, people, and other impediments in order to avoid an accident.

NOTE:
- When the legal speed limit must be exceeded, use a chassis dynamometer instead of performing a road test.

Road Test Preparation

1. Inspect the engine coolant. Engine Coolant Level Inspection

2. Inspect the engine oil. Testing and Inspection

3. Inspect the ATF. Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Inspection - AW6A-EL

4. Inspect the idle speed. Testing and Inspection

5. Inspect the ignition timing. Testing and Inspection

6. Verify that no DTCs recorded. Reading and Clearing DTCs Procedure - On-Board Diagnostic System DTC Inspection - AW6A-EL

Shift Diagram (Normal Mode at D Range)





D Range Test

1. Perform the "Road Test Preparation".

2. Warm-up the transaxle until the ATF temperature reaches at 60-70 °C {140-158 °F}.

3. Select the selector lever to D range.

4. Perform the road test at D range.

- If there is any malfunction, perform the "Symptom Troubleshooting". Symptom Troubleshooting Item Table

a. Accelerate with the depressing amount of accelerator pedal half and then fully depress.

b. Verify that 1GR-2GR, 2GR-3GR, 3GR-4GR, 4GR-5GR, and 5GR-6GR upshifts and downshifts are obtained. The shift points must be as shown in the table below.

c. Drive the vehicle in 6GR, 5GR, 4GR, 3GR, and 2GR and verify that kickdown occurs for 6GR-5GR, 5GR-4GR, 4GR-3GR, 3GR-2GR, 2GR-1GR downshifts, and that the shift points are as shown in the table below.

d. Drive the vehicle and verify that TCC operation is obtained. The operation points must be as shown in the table below.

M Range Test

1. Perform the "Road Test Preparation".

2. Warm-up the transaxle until the ATF temperature reaches at 60-70 °C {140-158 °F}.

3. Select the selector lever to M range.

4. Perform the road test at M range.

- If there is any malfunction, perform the "Symptom Troubleshooting". Symptom Troubleshooting Item Table

a. Verify that 1GR-2GR, 2GR-3GR, 3GR-4GR, 4GR-5GR and 5GR-6GR upshifts and 6GR-5GR, 5GR-4GR, 4GR-3GR, 3GR-2GR, and 2GR-1GR downshifts are obtained by manual selecting of the selector lever forward and back.

b. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that 6GR-5GR, 5GR-4GR, 4GR-3GR, 3GR-1GR downshifts are obtained. The shift points must be as shown in the table below.

c. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that engine braking effect is felt in 1GR.

d. Drive the vehicle and verify that TCC operation is obtained in 4GR, 5GR and 6GR. The operation points must be as shown in the table below.

e. Drive the vehicle in 6GR, 5GR, 4GR and 3GR and verify that kickdown occurs for 6GR-->5GR, 5GR-->4GR, 4GR-->3GR, 3GR-->2GR downshifts, and that the shift points are as shown in the table below.

P Position Test

1. Select the selector lever to P position on a gentle slope.

2. Release the brake and verify that the vehicle does not roll.

- If the vehicle rolls, inspect the parking mechanism in the transaxle.
