Taper Roller Bearing (Transaxle Case Side) Disassembly Note

1. Remove the taper roller bearing from the transaxle case.
1) Break off the taper roller bearing cage using a chisel.

Warning: When breaking off the taper roller bearing cage, always use protective eye wear. Otherwise, fragments dispersed when breaking off the taper roller bearing cage could cause injury to your eyes.

Caution: Collect all the dispersed taper roller bearing fragments. If the dispersed fragments get into the transaxle or differential, damage to these and other parts could result.

2) Clear away the cage and roller which have been broken off.
3) Install a puller (commercially available) to the notch area of the differential gear.

4) Remove the inner race using the puller (commercially available).

Note: Keep the inner race because it will be used for the assembly of the new taper roller bearing.
