2004 MAZDA3 (5-DOOR ONLY) - SCRAPING
NOISE OVER BUMPS FROM RIGHT REAR WHEEL

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VIN

2004 Mazda3 (5-Door only)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may have a scraping or crunching noise going over bumps or dips. The noise comes from the right rear wheel area and may occur when the vehicle is carrying a full passenger and/or cargo load.

The noise is due to a wheel well filler hose protector (ie: splash guard) protrusion rubbing against the right rear tire.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Visually inspect the filler hose protector (P/N BN8B-42-298) for signs of rubbing at the protrusion. Protrusion is located on the bottom side of protector.

3. If confirmed, remove protector then cut protrusion completely off so that surface is smooth.

4. Verify repair.
