Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair

VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Caution
^ The variable valve timing actuator cannot be disassembled because it is a precision unit.

Note
^ The variable valve timing actuator camshaft sprocket is integrated with the variable valve timing actuator and cannot be disassembled.

1. Follow the timing chain removal/installation procedure from 1 to 12 and remove the timing chain.





2. Remove the variable valve timing actuator.
1) Set a wrench or equivalent tool at the hexagonal part of the camshaft to prevent rotation.
2) Loosen the variable valve timing actuator tightening bolt.
3. Install the variable valve timing actuator.
1) Set a wrench or equivalent tool at the hexagonal part of the camshaft to prevent rotation.
2) Tighten the variable valve timing actuator tightening bolt.
Tightening torque 69 - 75 Nm (7.1 - 7.6 kgf-cm, 50.9 - 55.3 ft. lbs.)
