Power Steering Pressure Switch: Testing and Inspection

POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH INSPECTION

Inspection of Output Voltage

1. Disconnect the PCM connector.

2. Connect the SST (104 Pin Breakout Box) to the PCM as shown.
3. Tighten the connector bolt.

Tightening torque: 7.9 - 10.7 N.m {80 - 100 kgf.cm, 69.5 - 95.4 in.lbf}

4. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Specification:

6. Measure the voltage at PCM terminal 31.
- If not as specified, check the related harness and power steering pressure switch continuity.

Inspection of Continuity

1. Disconnect the power steering pressure switch connector.

2. Connect an ohmmeter to the power steering pressure switch.

3. Start the engine and let it idle. Check continuity of the power steering pressure switch while turning steering wheel.
- If not as specified, replace the power steering pressure switch.
- If okay inspect related harness and connectors.

NOTE: Visually check wire and connector in wiring diagram. It is easier to test from connector than the power steering pressure switch on the power steering oil pump.
